Foreign Trade Zone

Foreign Trade Zone

Many industries look to foreign manufacturers for production of their products. When these products arrive in the U.S. for sale to consumer markets, they may be subject to significant import duties, tariffs and other fees. A complete understanding of import and export controls is important as the global marketplace expands. Many of our customers are seeking to streamline the compliance process, and alleviate the extensive fees stemming from the host of regulations. To address these needs, ATC Logistics & Electronics has added Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) services to its suite of offerings.

Foreign Trade Zones were created by the U.S. Congress in 1934 to stimulate commerce, facilitate trade and boost domestic, U.S. employment as a result of the elimination or reduction of import expenses. FTZs are specific areas considered outside the customs territory of the U.S. where companies can conduct warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and repackaging operations.

Foreign Trade Zone Services

ATC Logistics & Electronics’ new service will provide customers access to logistics, kitting, packaging and repair services within the FTZ. Customers will be able to leverage these resources to reduce, or in some cases eliminate expenses on import duties, tariffs and fees, while streamlining the import and export of electronics, components, and other goods for distribution in the United States or abroad. Each customer will receive expert guidance from ATC Logistics & Electronics to help navigate them through the complexities of the FTZ process, and maximize the financial benefits. These efforts will help alleviate a customer’s internal administrative, processing, inventory carrying and compliance expenses.
